Target Operating Model

Sliding Line
  • Exevion was engaged by an innovative FinTech within the Media industry to design a Target Operating Model. Set to experience a period of rapid growth, they sought to define an operational structure that would effectively deliver on their corporate strategy.

    Still in the early stages of development, we were faced with several key challenges around establishing a corporate strategy and working to tight deadlines. We focused on People (core capabilities, roles and responsibilities), Processes (defining and identifying gaps), and Technology (defining the tech infrastructure).

  • We ran interviews and workshops with key stakeholders to assess their current operating model – which formed the basis for the effective Target Operating Model. The project was organised into three distinct phases:

    1. Discovery: In-depth review of the existing organisational structure, future needs, and gap analysis for people, processes, and technology;

    2. Target Operating Model Design:

      • People: Detail required capabilities and organisational structure charts to launch the platform within the next 12 months;

      • Processes: Define functional processes to operate the platform and identify any critical gaps;

      • Technology: Outline an appropriate tech stack to deliver the required launch functionality.

    3. Integrated Planning:

      • Current Plan Assessment: Review existing plans and related collateral to understand the project's current status, key workstreams, scope, and progress;

      • Integrated Plan: Build a detailed project plan, to encompass development timelines, operational infrastructure, milestones, dependencies, and potential risks;

      • Refinement: Review the Integrated Plan with key stakeholders, making necessary amendments, and establishing governance for ongoing project management and delivery.

  • After conducting all the relevant interviews and designing an effective Target Operating Model, we had delivered the following:

    • People: High-level capabilities and an organisational chart;

    • Processes: Functional processes required to run the platform;

    • Technology: Enabling technology necessary to launch and run the platform;

    • Integrated Plan: A comprehensive document outlining key milestones, dependencies, and potential risks for the platform's launch.

  • Exevion was tasked with designing a Target Operating Model for a FinTech in the Media industry undergoing rapid growth. The project focused on People, Processes, and Technology. Through interviews and workshops a current assessment was conducted outlining the critical gaps in the business. We then drafted an affective Target Operating Model for the organisation which has been implemented with great affect.

    Exevion has a team of adept consultants skilled in supporting organisations in reviewing and designing effective Target Operating Models, resulting in tangible results such as process improvement, enhanced efficiency, and reduced costs.
